From the Desk of the President of the Board, Dr. Scott Preisler
April 28, 2026
Greetings! If you are reading this, you have discovered our new and improved website! Hopefully, you will find this site easy to navigate and full of pertinent information. Please check back frequently to keep abreast of our updates.
Last year, we made great strides in facilitating our long-term viability as a foundation. Multiple successes were achieved, including providing completion funding for the girls’ hockey locker room from a private donor for close to $70,000. Our initial teacher educational enrichment grants were awarded to four worthy recipients for a total of approximately $5,000. Our partners, the Vilas County Dolly Parton Library, commenced fundraising efforts and procured adequate funds to start enrolling children ages 0-5 to receive free books mailed to their homes beginning in March.
New for this year, we have instituted the Northland Pines Staff Excellence Awards which have been made possible through a donation from a generous local benefactor. There are five categories in which adjunct staff, teachers, coaches, and administrators can be nominated for recognition of their talents by anyone in the community. Recipients will be awarded prize money and a token of excellence. We will also be continuing the popular educational enrichment grants again this year.
Your Foundation Board has been very busy engaging in fundraising opportunities for the benefit of the Northland Pines community. I am excited to announce the 1st Annual Wheels & Deals event that will take place on July 18, 2026, in the Northland Pines High School parking lot. This will be an opportunity for anyone to showcase a vehicle for sale to the general public. Admission for buyers is free! A small display fee will be charged to the seller but they will retain the profit from the sale! We also have been in discussions with interested soccer parents to initiate fundraising for lights at the high school soccer field. These are needed because of increased interest requiring additional field time for practices and games during evening hours. What an awesome opportunity for our young athletes and also what a boost this would be to our local economy!
As always, if you should have any questions or comments or if you would like to discuss opportunities for the Northland Pines Community Foundation, please do not hesitate to contact any of us on the Board. We appreciate your interest in continuing our mission. Remember, we are your Northland Pines Community Foundation!
